We do seem to be having a lot of sign-wavings and protests these days, don’t we? And why not: Unemployment is high, job security is a relic of the past, the poor are getting much poorer while the rich… well, you know the rest of the story.
So why not go have some fun this Thursday, Dec. 1 from 4-6pm by standing out front of the Kaahumanu Center in Kahului and showing the island (or, rather, that portion of the island which drives by the Kaahumanu Center from 4-6pm, which I’m guessing is considerable) that you’re sick of the status quo. Which is pretty much how the Democratic Party of Maui put it in an email today:
“It is more important than ever that we stand together to show that not only can the voices of the 99% be silenced, we’ll make it so that Washington and Wall Street can’t sleep without hearing our demands for a better country. If enough of us get involved, we can really make a difference. Please take a moment to invite your social network to participate in the event.”
So put on your best protest duds and grab a big sign (remember–you lose points for bad grammar and punctuation!) and show the island who’s boss. Those wishing to RSVP via MoveOn.org can click here.
