Looks like there’s been another shark attack on Maui, this time on the Westside. Details are pretty spare at the moment, so we’re just going to pass on the official County of Maui press releases we’ve received (the most recent at the top):

UPDATE: Ka’anapali Shark Bite
Ocean Safety has confirmed that the victim in this case is a 58-year-old male visitor from Marina Del Rey, California who suffered two deep lacerations on the right thigh, above the knee.
When asked to describe the shark the victim said the shark’s head was the size of a basketball. Surfers in the water said they saw a gray, four foot long shark in the area of the attack. Lifeguards believe this to be a reef shark.
The beach remains closed for a mile radius until noon tomorrow. No further information is available at this time.
