When I heard the Mauitime crew was doing a Bar Guide I wanted to help out by doing something awesome. Sometimes simple is awesome.

While I was thinking up a concept an illustrator wrote me a random email about how she wanted to work with me on something. Her name is Heather Diane and she does killer lettering, so Bam – the idea fell on me: we’ll do bottle labels.

I hit the beach to find some old bottles that washed up (one of which had a rather large centipede living in it) and dropped into my local antique store, Bird of Paradise, that had all sorts of bottles from the old whaling days and such.

Just as I got the bottles together, Heather sent me her final work, so I just printed them, cut them out and glued them onto the bottles.

Then I got an old pallet, took it apart, and built a shelf to the dimensions of the cover. Then I carved the MauiTime logo out of an old hunk of wood.

Sean Hower then came over to my house (the Department of Awesome). He lit and shot the photo on our back patio with a white bed sheet.

It all just fell into place.
