Hyatt Regency Maui gives to local resource center

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa General Manager Michael Jokovich presented the Ka Hale A Ke Ola Resource Center of Maui with a $15,000 grant today as part of its Hyatt Community Grants philanthropic program. The check presentation took place at the Ka Hale A Ke Ola center and is part of a seven year partnership between the two organizations in which the Hyatt Regency Maui has volunteered with Ka Hale A Ke Ola to provide hot meals to clients, coordinate holiday parties and arrange other activities for its residents. Their longstanding relationship made Ka Hale A Ke Ola a natural choice for the Hyatt’s generous Hyatt Community Grant.

Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Centers, Inc, began in 1986 with the sheltering of the homeless in an old Puunene church building and since has expanded to include a five-acre site in Wailuku built in 1993 and a newly built Lahaina facility made possible through a partnership with the State of Hawaii, County of Maui, the Weinberg Foundation and other funding sources. Ka Hale A Ke Ola is a one stop resource center providing basic services and linking clients with over 50 human service agencies to help with needs such as medical, mental health, vocational rehabilitation and financial services.

Hyatt Thrive is Hyatt’s global corporate responsibility platform and is designed to give Hyatt associates the power to give to organizations within the community. In a statement, the Hyatt wrote that it believes “no one better understands a community’s most pressing issues—and their solutions—than those that live and work there.” As part of this program the Hyatt Regency Maui is one of 26 Hyatt properties from around the world awarding over $300,000 in grants to non-profit organizations in their local communities.
