Maui Historical Society Hires Donald Craib as New Executive Director


The Maui Historical Society has hired a new executive director, Donald Craib. With a thick resume and extensive qualifications, Craib possesses a legal background of over 32 years, specializing in cultural heritage, archaeological preservation and museum law.

Craib has been involved with many prominent archaeological foundations, including the Society for American Archaeology, where he received a Presidential Recognition Award,  the SRI Foundation and The Archaeological Conservancy. Craib was also a founding member of the law firm Cultural Heritage Partners LLC, which specializes in historic preservation law. Contributing to the world of academia, Craib shared his specialized knowledge by teaching preservation law at the University of Maryland and Mary Washington University and served as president of the board of counselors for Drake University School of Law.

Though most of his career has been focused in Washington D.C., Craib now resides in Kihei and is currently involved locally as a member of the board of directors for SPCA Maui.
